Communicators in our new digital media landscape must evolve. They must leverage digital tools and targeted messaging to reach and engage customers and educate and mobilize ambassadors within their organizations to do the same.
Elon University professor Amanda Sturgill, a speaker at the Digital Marketing for Business Conference, says communicators must avoid asking colleagues for content just for the sake of having content. “It is important people within the organization understand how the content solves a problem,” she says.
Kevin Anselmo, higher education communications consultant, interviews Dr. Sturgill in his For Immediate Release on Higher Education podcast series. Download the MP3 file (34.9 Mb, 36:17). In the interview, Dr. Sturgill addresses:
- The importance of thinking through strategy before content.
- How to ensure engagement from the organization.
- The keys to helping people within the organization understand measurement.
The interview serves as a snapshot for some of the topics Dr Sturgill will address in her Content Strategy for Small Organizations session to be held on May 8 at 3 PM.
